Nefelejcs (Forget-me-not) takes a new look at the genre considered to be the non plus ultra of kitsch, familiar to all those who live in Hungary: the imitation folk song (‘nóta’). Thanks to the singing of Ilka Kisgyörgy, the play of János Bangó and his band Áron Mátyássy’s fresh visual language and subtle humour, the much-maligned genre will appear in a new light. ‘With their sophisticated instrumentation, gently flowing progressions and high emotional charge, the imitation folk song can still be relevant,’ say the young creators.
